Assistant Accountant
Banbury | £33,000 to £38,000 + up to 5% bonus | Office based | Permanent
Looking for a hands-on accounting role where no two days are the same? Our client, a well-established global engineering manufacturer based in Banbury, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join finance team. This is a newly created role, brought in to support the Finance Manager as the business continues to grow.

The Asiistant Accountant role
- Supporting month end close to tight group reporting deadlines, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations
- Processing multi-currency transactions, journals and revaluations
- Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Preparing the monthly VAT return
- Supporting forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting
- Assisting with internal and external audits
- Reviewing employee expenses against company policy
- Providing cover for purchase and sales ledger when needed
What you'll need as an Assistant Accountant
- Around 5 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
- Experience with multi-currency transactions (highly desirable)
- Experience with intercompany reconciliations and VAT returns
- Confident Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- AAT Level 3 or 4, or qualified by experience
- A self-starter who's happy to get stuck into every part of the finance function
US GAAP, SOX or manufacturing experience would be a bonus, but full training is available. Candidates moving from practice into industry are also encouraged to apply.
